Some Blurry Photos from the King Club

Well, we had our first show with the new band line-up on May 25th. We were a last minute add on for the Maximum Ink 11th Anniversary Party. We received a lot of positive feedback including my personal favorite, "I can see you guys have a lot of potential. I can't wait to hear you in a few months!"
Ah yes, potential. Change is always difficult (unless its change like, "I'm getting out of jail." change).

Notes about the King Club:
The King Club never fails to disappoint. Even though the promotor of the event insists the show will start shortly after 9pm (and I've been told our start time will be 9pm at previous shows), it never happens. I don't know why I always believe them! Some club owners complain that bands don't act professional enough and don't realize that owning a club is a business. I say, the King Club doesn't realize they're running a business.
We're always respectful, show up on time and tear down fast. But, what we get at the King Club is, a sound tech that shows up 10 minutes before the stated start time. He's stoned and he's deaf. Honestly, there was so much shreaky treble running through the air that patrons were stepping outside to escape (not to smoke). Stage sound sucked but he was paying no attention to Ed's signals and gestures to fix it.
I didn't realize how bad it was until I listened to the next act. Two guitarists (one of them singing) should not be difficult to mix. Unfortunately, the treble was turned up so high that he massacred the singer's most excellent voice.
We've had this sound tech before. He's been stoned before. He's been incompetent every time.
You want to hire a band that will show respect and be professional? Start treating them with respect and professionalism.

Sorry! Just had to rant a little.

Rant away. I tried to be the loyal band spouse and went to the King Club for the premiere MP show with the new line-up, and I had to leave before you even started because the recorded music was so loud my head was going to explode. It was horrible.
Yesterday's show was great. Hunky bass player, can I take him home?
Can you take the bass player home?
Sure! Just let let him out every now and then.
