A Brief Break from Rockin'

First real vacation in nearly two years! We traveled by bus to Chicago and then caught the California Zephyr (Amtrak) to Colorado. It was night through Iowa and Nebraska. We woke up with a view of the front range. Here's the view from the train just after we passed through Denver.

The Aspen area had a record snowfall this season. The cross country skiing looked like this in Ashcroft:

Did I mention it was sunny?

And look! How did that Be the Engine sticker get to Sam's Knob at Snowmass?

That's 10,260 feet above sea level!

Then, of course, there's Elk Camp at 11,325 feet above sea level. After a little hike up from the end of the ski lift, the 5.3 mile ski run started.

And then, there's the real elk herds that had all come down into the valley because of the extraordinary amount of snow fall. There were hundreds of them along the rail line between Glenwood Springs and the Moffet tunnel.

And while I was away, the boys nailed down the line-up for the Crystal Corner Bar gig on march 15th. We're headlining with the Sigourney Weavers opening and Goat Radio sandwiched between us. Hell, they even got us an extra show in April at the High Noon Saloon. I should leave town more often!
