I want my MAMA!

Sorry, I couldn't resist that title.
I honestly have mixed feelings about the whole thing. In one sense I think it is nice that Madison has a music awards and I got a buzz when I visited the last half of the gala last year. At the same time the whole process is sort of messed and if Madison musicians really wanted to help earn money for the arts at Madison schools I'm sure we could earn more just having benefits that go straight to the arts programs and avoid the medal ceremonies and scandalous voting process... I DO have much respect for Rick and all the fine folks that make this event happen.
Anyway the Motor Primitives advanced to the final rounds:
Announcement
Thanks to all you awesome fans for voting!
Second round voting begins February 25th
MAMA website
Please note that we are up for Best Album- Rock and People's Choice- Best Overall Artist. Also the fantastic No Camouflage is up for Best Album- Compilation
Also our own Pam Barrett will be presenting on awards night.

WORT my daahlings, I love you!
While the FCC was sleeping, Clear Channel stole the airwaves. You can't swear or even make oblique references to things this puritanical state might consider "deviant." But, if you have the bucks, you can buy a dozen or so radio stations within a listening area and dictate what ideas "the People" will hear.
Well, fuck you FCC and Clear Channel! We've got WORT 89.9 FM.
It's the winter pledge drive at WORT and I'm thinking back to all the nice things the people at WORT have done for us! Why are they so nice to us? Well, actually, I think they're nice to everybody. We're particularly partial to Dave Zero, Jonathan Zarof, Tara Ayres, Tracy Dietzel, Casey Fox and Sybil Augustine. They play our shit and we're grateful. Now where's my check book?
Oh, yeah. Did I forget to say fuck the FCC?

And VD to you all!
Here's our most recent fan email notice:
Happy Valentine's Day you hot, HOT MP fans!
We've got four things to tell you about:
1. New email address - motorprimitives@gmail.com
2. Our next show
3. Vote in the Madison Area Music Awards
4. We HEART you 4-ever!
1. NEW EMAIL ADDRESS - We're phasing out our old address (motorprimitives@yahoo.com) and have established a new one. Address all correspondence to:
motorprimitives@gmail.com
Yahoo's been giving us fits! Pam's been pulling her hair out (and she doesn't have many to spare) about problems with people not getting their emails. Poor JJ even missed out on the free beer because he didn't get the message. That is unacceptable! How many more people must suffer before we get some change around here....Zero...Problemfixed.
2. OUR NEXT SHOW - Sunday, February 19th at the Harmony Bar from 3-8pm. We are one of four bands playing to benefit Clean Air Madison. The tix are $10. We will be playing last, after The Recons (Klezmer), Aaron Nathans (singer/songwriter) and Tongue & Groove (R&B). I suspect we'll go on no earlier than 6:30pm. But come early and see the other fantastic acts!
3. VOTE FOR THE MAMAS - The Madison Area Music Awards is our local Grammy's (without the whole Elton John/Eminem thing). Actually, the awards are a benefit for the Madison school district music program. So, if you sign up to vote, you donate $5 which goes to the schools. Then you can vote for best album, song...etc. We're up for best rock album of 2005. You can find out more about it by going to:
http://www.themamas.org
Deadline for registration is February 15th and first round voting closes on February 20th.
*We will be playing at a MAMAs benefit show on March 9th (10pm) at the King Club.
4. WE HEART YOU 4-EVER! Happy Valentine's Day.
xoxoxoxoxoxo,
PAMMATROBINKAT
PS - I have Muskrat Love going through my head...And now you do too!

Who cares what it's all about!?

Well who the hell cares? It could be about the hair on your ass, but, you wouldn't know it 'cause you don't read this blog! No one reads this blog.
Perhaps it's about getting nashed in the teeth of a gigantic, rusty old gear box!
I'd be careful if I were you! That gear box may represent our current regime nashing away at the essence of who we're supposed to be as human beings.
Yeah, maybe I've gotta knock off the booze, but we're sleep walking through this one people!

Be The Engine, Part I
It's about finding the 'power' within. Sound corny? Perhaps. Sometimes we lack confidence. Sometimes we're too fearful. Whatever the reason, we often choose not to do something we want to do, or should do, because we think we'll fall short. But, what's so bad about falling short if you gave it your best shot? How about patting yourself on the back for a valiant attempt?
It's about employing the motivation within and being driven by your internal engine. Trusting that your physical and intellectual skills can take you where you want to go.
It's about how scrumptiously hot any body and mind in motion can be. Passionate people are sexy as hell!
