Show in Milwaukee

The Band finally broke the chains of Dane County and played in Milwaukee! The gig at Vnuk's Lounge was interesting...big club with a fantastic stage and a very professional staff. We managed to bring in about a dozen people as an unknown, out-of-town group. But, the club is off the beaten path and there is little walk-by traffic. On top of that, the two Milwaukee bands on the bill didn't seem to draw well that night, so between a large room and a so-so crowd, it didn't feel very full.

Nonetheless, the band had a good time, and we played quite well, if I do say so myself. My parents and sister - all Milwaukeeans - made the scene and made it fun for me. Mom was relieved that I wasn't wearing my stinky old leather trousers. I wore jeans so I'd match up with Ed. We're silly that way...goddamit Ed!

Looking to play the club again, hopefully to a larger audience!

Gig Poster

Tony from the Independent Idols came up with this poster for last week's gig at Vnuk's Lounge in Milwaukee.

The small print beneath her knees reads, "Woman not a member of any appearing band."
Truth in advertising!

Access!

The rock'n'roll gods have granted me access to this blog, and I am humbled. In case you don't know me, I'm Jeff Muendel, organist for The Motor Primitives. I'll be joining Pam and Robin in posting really, really important stuff here, and our bassist, Ed Feeny, will be as well (soon..we hope...).

So, what have I got? Well, I have one more grainy cell phone photo from the Mickey's gig (thanks to a crew of New Zealanders who attended the show). It looks like it was taken in the 1940's and Robin didn't make into the frame, but it's my first post, dammit!

Looking forward to playing Vnuk's Lounge in Cudahy (it's really Milwaukee for all intents and purposes) on August 17th. As Pam mentioned in a previous post, it's a "birthday gig" for me as I finally reach legal drinking age on August 16th. Come on down and help me celebrate?

"Mill-e-wah-que"

Up for a road trip this weekend?

How about traveling to the "Heart of Milwaukee" (otherwise know as Cudahy) to see us play at Vnuk's Lounge!?

That's right! We're actually playing a show outside the magnetic draw of Madtown. We plan to achieve escape velocity on Friday, August 17th. The Motor Primitives will be opening for our new friends, Independent Idols and another Milwaukee based band, Paradigm Pulse. That means we're playing first! Vnuk's web site says that shows start at 10pm. Why would they lie?

Vnuk's is Milwaukee's premier live music venue. How do we know? Because it says so on the internet somewhere. Why would they lie?

Rumor has it that someone in our band is having a birthday and it's not the drummer, bassist, or lead vocalist. This someone says he's turning 32 years old. Why would he lie?

Come on over to Brewtown and help Jeff celebrate his Birfday!!!

Here's the details:
Friday 8/17/7 @10pm
Vnuk's Lounge, 5036 S. Packard Ave, Cudahy, (414) 481-1655

Alice Cooper appreciates Milwaukee. You should too!

WAYNE CAMPBELL: So, do you... come to Milwaukee often?
ALICE COOPER: Well, I'm a regular visitor here, but Milwaukee has certainly had its share of visitors. The French missionaries and explorers began visiting here in the late 16th century.
PETE: Hey, isn't "Milwaukee" an Indian name?
ALICE COOPER: Yes, Pete, it is. In fact, it's pronounced "mill-e-wah-que" which is Algonquin for "the good land."
WAYNE CAMPBELL: I was not aware of that.
